Ayurveda: Science of life, India’s traditional systems of medicine.

Bhagavatam: Sacred text dealing with the lives of various incarnations of Vishnu as well as Lord Krishna.

Brahmin: Member of a cultural and social elite.

Crores: Unit in a traditional number system equal to ten millions.

Deepavali: Hindu festival of lights It marks the victory of good over the evil.

Gita: Sacred song.

Guna: Quality.

Guru: Spiritual teacher.

Hookah: An Eastern smoking pipe.

Japa: Repetition of a mantra.

Kaliyuga: Iron age started 5100 years ago which last for 423,000 years.

Karma: Law of causality.

Siddhi: Perfection, psychic power.

Surya Namaskar: Sun Salutation (set of yoga postures).

Swamis: Title to indicate a teacher who is self-realized.

Tamaguna: Inactive, lethargic, dull, or slow.

Vedas: Among the most ancient, revered, and sacred of the world’s scriptures, regarded as eternal wisdom.

Veeresha: Person who is ready to accept defeat.

Yagna: Vedic ritual in which various items are offered to God through a sacred fire.
