The natural solution is to restructure the side around Torres, but that brings further problems with the current playing staff. Torres’ most frequent type of goal at Liverpool was a finish after a through ball from midfield, and Chelsea lack a truly creative player in the zone between the back four and the striker. Their options are either predominantly physical players – Michael Essien, Ramires, John Obi Mikel – or predominantly goalscorers – Frank Lampard, Salomon Kalou, Florent Malouda.
