Creating a New Nation
For the purposes of this guide we will create the Egyptian League.
Steps
1. After loading up the Editor go to File -> Load Database. This will load the FM2010 database into the editor.
2. Then click the [Add Nation] on the left hand menu.
3. A wizard will then pop-up called Select Nation. Make sure ‘Create New Competitions and Rules’ is highlighted.
4. Then click the Nation drop-down above, highlight over the other nations and scroll down until you find Egypt, select this nation.
(Note: You can here select Current Nation and then a nation. This will allow you to create a nation already in the game from scratch. When loaded into the game, your xml options will replace preset rules in game.)
5. Click [Next] which will take you on to the Settings part of the Wizard.
6. This here lets you set the Season Update Day, Season Start and End Dates. The pre-set dates are there to mimic the main European leagues. Leave the update day and end date alone for this guide but change the Start Date to the 1.8.2009. You can do this by typing over the current date, or clicking the [Change] button to bring up a date dialog box.
7. Once you have done this click the [Finish] button.
8. Once you have done this you will be presented with the General details screen, you can see three tabs at the top, General, Transfer Windows and Discipline Rules, leave these tabs alone for the moment.
9. On the current screen you will see the information set during the wizard as well as First Reserve/Youth Team. Click the tick box here to turn this on. This will now makes all teams in Egypt have a reserve team.
10. You can also here change the Team Type to be different age groups from u21s to u18. You can also set the division formation (it can either replicate main division or be regionalised.) The match day and match time. Leave everything as is here except set Match Time to 1000.
11. Once you have done that click on the ‘Transfer Windows’ tab. This section is pretty basic and allows you to set the dates of the transfer windows in this country.
12. Click the [Add] button which will add date boxes to the Start Date and End Date. Click the [Change] button on the Start Date and select 1.7.2009. Then click [Change] on End Date and set it to 31.8.2009. This will mimic the first transfer window in Europe that runs from July to end of August.
13. Then click the ‘Discipline Rules’ tab. This page lets you edit the discipline rules, here for yellow card you can edit the sequence of cards to pick up suspensions, the amount of games banned and when the ban comes into effect.
14. Change the sequences to be 3.6.9. Leave the amount of games banned at 1, but change Ban Start Date to 7 Days Time. Leave the Red Card Ban Rules as they are.
